Leather and Suede Care Guide

A true fashion investment, leather and suede will never be out of style. Follow these simple care tips to help your favourite pieces last a lifetime.

  • Leather is not fond of moisture — rain and snow can leave stains on its surface. Try to avoid wearing leather in damp weather, and if the item gets wet accidentally, dry it in a warm, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heating appliances.
  • Marks from water, dust, and minor stains on suede can be removed with a special soft-bristled brush. Once the garment is completely dry, gently clean the area with light circular motions.
  • To prevent stretching, use wide or padded hangers. Store the items in a breathable or perforated garment bag.
  • Leather should not be ironed as high temperatures can deform its structure. To remove creases, hang the garment on a hanger and gently smooth out the fabric with your hands. If this doesn't work, consider taking it to a tailor.
  • To keep the surface soft and supple, at the end of the season, wipe clean and dry leather with a sponge dampened with glycerin. Do this carefully, avoiding the lining, then dry the garment, and store it in a garment bag.
  • For major stains, seek specialised dry-cleaning help.
