Lyocell – 12 STOREEZ

Lyocell Care Guide

Lyocell is a soft, plant-based fibre serving as a modern and eco-friendly alternative to viscose. Lyocell fabrics are breathable, lightweight, and draping. Here are the best tips on how you can take care of your garments.

  • Before washing, check the recommendations on the sewn-in label. If the item is washable, fasten it and turn it inside out. Use detergents without bleaching agents, surfactants, anionic phosphates, or dyes.
  • For machine washing, choose a delicate cycle at 30°C/86°F without a spin cycle. To prevent creasing, load the machine only halfway.
  • For hand washing, dissolve the detergent in cool water and then gradually soak the garment.
  • After washing, let the water drain, shake out the garment, and spread it out to dry. Ensure it's not exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Do not overwash stains or rub them with napkins, as this could cause light spots and fluff the surface. Dry cleaning can help with major stains.
  • Iron lyocell on the reverse side at a maximum temperature of 110°C/230°F, with the steam setting turned off.
  • Remember that lyocell garments should fit loosely to prevent tearing at the seams.
  • Over time, the surface of the material may develop a slight light-coloured fuzz — this is natural for lyocell fibres.
  • Be careful with bags, belts with buckles, and jewellery, as they can damage this delicate material.
